Add features with recommended add-ons
Recommended add-ons add features to your site, preconfigured with smart defaults that you can change later. Different site templates recommend different add-ons based on the use case.
A new feature installed from the recommended add-ons list, with its modules installed and its preconfigured settings applied to your existing site.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- A running Drupal CMS site, from the launcher or DDEV.
- An administrator account.
- Go to Extend → Recommended
/admin/modules/browse/recommended. - Select Install for each add-on you want to apply. Drupal CMS installs the add-on’s modules and applies its configuration to your existing site.
- Provide any information the add-on prompts for, such as an API key or identifier, to complete the configuration.
Some add-ons include demo content that demonstrates the newly installed feature. Once an add-on is installed, update any of its settings to meet your requirements.
Under the hood, an add-on is a Drupal recipe: a package that installs modules and applies configuration in one automated step. The recipes page in the developer docs covers how recipes work.
Verify
Section titled “Verify”- The add-on’s feature is available on your site. For example, the Forms add-on adds a contact form at
/contact; see Create a contact form. - The modules the add-on installed appear checked on the Extend
/admin/modulespage.
Variations
Section titled “Variations”- Install a single module instead: when no add-on covers what you need, install modules individually; see Install and manage modules.
Related
Section titled “Related”- Install and manage modules explains modules, recipes, and the project browser.
- Recipes explains the format add-ons are built on.
- Set up AI tools walks through installing one of these add-ons end to end.
